Accreditations - IU Germany

1. WES - Canada and US.Recognised by WES Canada and U.S., a trusted non-profit providing verified education credential assessments (ECA) for foreign degrees and certificates. This means that our graduates can work or study in Canada and the U.S. as the IU degree can be converted into points according to Canadian academic standards in the Canadian Immigration Point System and American Immigration assessment scheme.

2. Cambridge -IU is a registered online Cambridge International School.

IU has following recognitions

  • FIBAA - Premium quality seal in "Excellence in digital education. IU has topped in Future Orientation, Knowledge Management, Quality Assurance of Teaching, and Academic Support of Students.
  • System Accreditation - We’re system accredited by FIBAA according to the specifications set out by the German Accreditation Council. Our quality management system met their standards in 2018 and we were accredited for 7 years.
  •  Program Accreditation - Our system accreditation means that we can accredit our own programmes. We are trusted to carry the Accreditation Seal on all our programmes without the need for an external agency being involved. 
  • German council of Sciences and humanities - In 2021, IU was reaccredited for five years by the German Council of Sciences and Humanities. The German Council of Sciences and Humanities has been advising the federal and state governments on issues of higher education development, science and research since 1957, while ensuring the quality of teaching and research at non-state universities.
  • ZFU (German national agency for distance learning) - All our distance learning study programs and individual training courses are approved by the ZFU, Germany's supervisory authority for distance-learning institutions within the Distance Learning Protection Act (FernUSG). 
  • Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Member - 

    Since April 2023, IU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the only public authority in India that ascertains foreign institutions. As the first Indian accreditation received, this is a significant milestone in IU's recognition within India and reinforces our position as a global education provider.

All our current study programmes are state-accredited and approved by the German Science Council and the state of Thuringia, and are in line with the European ECTS accreditation framework (the Bologna process).  

IU is also able to independently accredit new programmes in accordance with the legally defined quality standards of the German government, as we have been given the status of system accreditation.  

IU International is certified by FIBAA, assuring the quality of teaching and material. We are also listed on the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR).

2. CHE University Ranking (2021/2022) In the current CHE University Ranking (2020-2022), IU achieved top ranks in six out of 25 categories – the most categories won out of over 300 institutions assessed. We outperformed in the Business Administration field in the following categories: General Study Conditions, Contact with Lecturers, Study Programmes Offered, Examinations, Study Organisation, and Practical Orientation.

3. European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) EQAR lists FIBAA as a certified and fully reliable agency that has proven substantial compliance with a common set of conventions for quality assurance in Europe. As IU is recognised by FIBAA, we are therefore also validated by EQAR. This means that our programs, teaching, and resources are aligned with the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).

Modern students need modern learning tools. No more printed books: from now on, you’ll be using a sophisticated e-book that will take your studying process to the next level.

Read, remembered, understood? Thanks to your digital lecture notes e-book, you can test yourself straight away. At the end of each study unit, you answer questions to check what you’ve learned. And you’re shown the answers straight after. You also have the option of taking digital notes, which you can save and access at any time. At IU International University of Applied Sciences, you decide when and where we test your knowledge: you can take your tests online in written or oral form, or in person at one of our 40+ examination centres across Europe.

Here’s how it works:

    Create an online profile with our service provider and book your desired exam slot.
  • Check your equipment
    To start your exam, connect with the proctor, your online invigilator. The proctor will use the webcam to check your identity, your equipment and whether your workspace is set up appropriately.

On Campus Study - IU Germany

As a student in IU you have the following options:

  • Part-time student job (20 hrs/week)  
  • 18 months post-study work visa 
  • EU Blue Card

The ECTS depends on course duration.

  • Bachelor: 180 ECTS (36 Months)
  • Master: 120 ECTS or 60 ECTS (24 | 12 Months)
  • MBA: 90 or 60 ECTS ( 18 | 12 Months)

All courses are taught in English.

Please check with your counsellor or the website of Iu for the exact fees. There is an additional campus fees of approx € 1500 charged over and above the published tuition fees.

IU has two international campuses in Germany: Berlin and Bad Honnef. Both are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that will help you succeed in your studies and connect with your peers and lecturers.

IU offer on-campus student accommodation in Bad Honnef.

Our team is happy to give you advice on finding accommodation in Berlin if you want to join us there.

Yes, you can still change your preferred campus location, except during the last semester. It’s always best to let IU know beforehand so that your transition goes smoothly.

You'll need to attend tutorials on campus 2-3 days a week and attendance is mandatory. The exact days and times depend on your chosen campus location and study programme and will be communicated to you before the start of your studies.

For the rest of the week, you’ll enjoy the freedom of studying off-campus at your own time with our digital learning platform and tools.

This is course dependent. As an on-campus student, you may have written assignments, oral exams, group assessments and exams. Some may be taken in-person at one of our 40+ examination centres across Europe.

Exams take place several times a year, across 2 semesters. Each semester consists of two blocks of 11 weeks each: 9 weeks dedicated to studying and 2 weeks for taking your exams.

During the 9 weeks, you’ll take three courses parallelly. After you've completed the courses, you’ll sit for your exams. This ensures that your knowledge is fresh and that there is less exam stress at the end of the semester due to the distributed exam phases. Intake Months - IU Germany

The online course starts every month. Enjoy starting any time!

Applications are open all-year round, however for on-campus programmes, there are only 4 intakes per year: in January, April, July and October. You can indicate your desired starting date in your application.

  • Bachelor: January, April, July or October
  • Master/MBA: July or October

Make sure to apply early so you can get any visas sorted out in time for your studies in Germany

Eligibility Criteria - IU Germany

At IU, we teach in English to prepare you for the international market.

We, therefore, ask for proof of your English language skills*. If English is your native language or you graduated from an English-speaking school/university, you don’t need to prove your English skills. 

Accepted certifications: 

  • Speexx* B2.2 Certificate (complimentary when signing up with IU)​ 
  • TOEFL (min. 80 points) or 
  • IELTS (min. Level 6.0 out of 9 points) or 
  • Duolingo English test (min. 95 points) or 
  • Cambridge Certificate (min. B grade overall) or 
  • Equivalent proof

Academic criteria: 

  • Completed degree from a public or officially recognised university/higher education institution.
  • For 60-ECTS programmes, you will need to have already acquired 240 ECTS credits.
  • For 120-ECTS programmes, you will need to have 180 ECTS credits. 
  • At least a “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent earned in your previous education.
