ITI & Polytechnic graduates are the backbone of any shop floor in the manufacturing sector. However, the India Skill Report 2023 paints a grim picture of the employability quotient of these institutes, with ITIs at 28% & Polytechnics at 32%
The two main causes of dismal employability are (i) lack of communication skills & (ii) low exposure to a formal working environment.
Most companies have invested heavily in in-house technical training but not in the critical soft skills aspects.
